I was reading an email from a fellow domainer today. We were discussing the valuation of domains. What really made sense about one five letter .com was not sensible for the other. However each had a value that benchmarked in the mid XXXX. I would not ask for that much during the current domain situation. The words are related to the travel and finance industry. We decided that the domains would be best to keep in a holding position for the next six months. Once the virtual economy has better news these domains will be back in the light for a more positive roi.

ICAAN Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is the major regulator of domain names on the internet. It is a regulatory body that governs and assists in setting standards for domains amidst other things. Since were into domains here we will focus on that. What does this mean to the average domainer? What is the latest thing about ICAAN? Does it matter to me?

First the site has alot of jargon and data that a layman may have some difficulty with interpreting. It borders on lawyer speak and there are tidbits of information that a average domainer can learn. On the other hand looking at the global relationships that are developing it is useful to see where things are going. The latest endeavor is regarding institutional confidence. How this effects a domainer? Basically something to browse over. Very broad in their coverage. Almost like it is in the clouds.

I always visit ICAAN just to see what is going on about once a month. They also have a newsletter. I am always interested in professional organizations that are growing. Domainers can find some useful information from the site. After all it is part of the internet.

I am looking at more refinance, and future technology domains. These are some that should do well as long as they are targeted. You must always be on the curve of the trend. There are exceptions as this is the domain business. I am sure most visitors here have seen the rare LLLL.com sell for in the $xxx.xx region only months later for the high xxx,xx or more.

Domains will be more valuable as things work themselves out in the tug o war economy that we are in. We as domainers both experienced and new will be able to help each other.
