Domains and more on gauging value.
I was reading an email from a fellow domainer today. We were discussing the valuation of domains. What really made sense about one five letter .com was not sensible for the other. However each had a value that benchmarked in the mid XXXX. I would not ask for that much during the current domain situation. The words are related to the travel and finance industry. We decided that the domains would be best to keep in a holding position for the next six months. Once the virtual economy has better news these domains will be back in the light for a more positive roi.

Icann and the Domains we will look at in the near future?
I am looking at more refinance, and future technology domains. These are some that should do well as long as they are targeted. You must always be on the curve of the trend. There are exceptions as this is the domain business. I am sure most visitors here have seen the rare LLLL.com sell for in the $xxx.xx region only months later for the high xxx,xx or more.
Domains will be more valuable as things work themselves out in the tug o war economy that we are in. We as domainers both experienced and new will be able to help each other. Posting and pointing out areas that are likely to generate buzz in the community. Or just sharing simple techniques that have worked. Some of these are already adapting and change is always occurring. More later..

About every week I check out ebook and tools for domaining. This one has some useful advice and it is all at one source. If you are a beginning domainer or looking for a new read on domain flipping this is for you. You get the ebook. MP3 files to listen to ways to sell domains and the authors method of holding a domain name or building the site out. Building a blog or website on a domain can be an adventure in itself. I found this system to have a lot of value for those just starting out or domainers looking for a refresher course.

Uncertain Economy and Domains are the answer?
This has been a sudden twist in the domain blogs I have visited this week. I read quite a few posts. They all focused around the massive bailout. The stall in the house and finally the senate approval. Throughout this mini economic upheaval I have seen an improvement in my own outlook on the economy and domaining.
Domaining overall is weathering the storm nicely. I can see domains that go for $50 or $50,000 still selling on major auction sites. I cannot ignore the fact that there will be some heightened scrutiny on investors who are looking to domains in the current climate. Just remember for the average domainer. Keep your value margins for your domain. Explain that to the potential buyer. Try to add some incentive. Things maybe a little rough in the outside world as the economy shifts. But most of us have seen times like these in the past. Domains will continue to be more stable as we ride this out. The return will still be in the value of the domain. How the type in traffic works and other elements that make brandable domains a mover on the internet.
